I've got a feeling you're going to enjoy it more than I did. It seems like you're kind of film, and I thought it was going to count since it was based around the story and I figured it was a musical, but I think I can safely say you're going to be really entertained by it. I gave it the high rating because it didn't seem fair to trash it because it was outside what I usually like and it did seem like it was a big production, and I can tell when that happens.
Speaking of the Yul Brenner/Deborah Kerr film-

GODSPELL (1973) My comments in the "Movie Genre of the Month" thread.
CATCH-22 (1970)
Black comedy in the vein of M*A*S*H or DR. STRANGELOVE, about a bombardier (Alan Arkin) during WWII trying to get himself declared insane so he can go home. Some laugh out loud moments were combined with too many moments where I was just bored. Great cast though. Besides Arkin, you get Martin Balsam, Bob Newhart, Jon Voight, Martin Sheen, Anthony Perkins, Richard Benjamin, Orson Welles and several others.
5.5/10

Over the last couple of weekends...
Breakfast At Tiffanys 2/4- One of those old movies that I'd always heard about but never got around to watching. I liked it more than I thought I would, and it was cool seeing a young George Peppard (Hannibal from "The A-Team").
The Mist 2/4- Not one of the best King adaptations (The Stand is still my favorite), but not a bad movie. Although I saw the end coming, it was still pretty intense.
Cloverfield 2/4- Wish it would have concentrated more on the actual monster, but not bad considering I really don't watch that many "monster" movies.

Stuart Gordon's Castle Freak-A lot better than expected, featuring some really great moments and a few mild flaws. www.imdb.com/title/tt0112643/usercomments-61Blood Relic-Really fun slasher, not entirely flawless but more than made up for by the film's strong positives. www.imdb.com/title/tt0459216/usercomments-12Ils (Them)-Part of the hype is worth it, since there's some fantastic moments here, but it's not 100% worth it either. www.imdb.com/title/tt0465203/usercomments-72Kilometro 31-A much better ghost story, with some fun scares and wonderful atmosphere, just don't ask me to explain the plot. www.imdb.com/title/tt0460485/usercomments-26Blood for Dracula-Hyper-sleazy, lots of gore and a ton of fun, otherwise known as one of the best vampire films ever made. www.imdb.com/title/tt0071233/usercomments-56Flesh for Frankenstein-Not quite the classic of it's sister picture, but this is still full of the same stuff, just more noticeable flaws. www.imdb.com/title/tt0071508/usercomments-65Shivers-Gets some really nice moments here and there, but would've been better had the monsters actually been fearful. www.imdb.com/title/tt0073705/usercomments-75

BOXCAR BERTHA (1972)
Roger Corman produced this Depression era story about a young girl (Barbara Hershey) in the 1930's who hooks up with a union leader (David Carradine) and a couple of others and they go on a crime spree. Interesting for two reasons, it was Martin Scorsese's second film as a director, and we get to see a young Barbara Hershey naked a few times. Low-budget exploitation flick from a soon-to-be master director. Scorsese's next film would be MEAN STREETS and the rest is history.

The Mummy-1999 Exactly what a PG-13 film should be, as this is my favorite example of the genre. Lots of action, lots of suspense, a couple scares and one cool moment after another, with nary a flaw amongst it. Really, really enjoyed it. 9.5/10

Watched Cloverfield finally, and I loved it. This is what the American Godzilla should've been. Not a huge fan of the shaky camcorder stuff, but it was still a blast. My kid really got into it.
Then yesterday watched my recently-purchased copy of Team America.
Oh, and recently we also watched 12 Monkeys and Juno.

Yeah, I actually did see the ending coming, it just popped into my head that it was gonna end that way for some reason. And I've never actually sat down & watched a whole Godzilla movie so I can't compare it to Cloverfield. I just don't watch that many monster movies, I just remember watching parts of Godzilla ones when I was a kid. Casa Blanca 2/4- One of those old movies that I'd never sat down & really watched, although I could probably quote all the famous lines that came out of it. Didn't hate it, but Humphrey Bogart was about the only thing that kept me entertained. Rent 3/4- Comments in MGOTM
