Well, in case you may have noticed, I was missing in action the last couple days. There was a legitimate reason for that, as shortly after I finished dinner Thursday evening, I noticed that my heart was racing a lot more than it usually does. Taking into account that old myth about "if you're left arm goes numb, you're having a heart attack," I proceeded to do all sorts of different motions with my arm in an attempt to calm myself down and convince me that I wasn't having one. Eventually, though, it got so fast and painful that I had to go to the emergency room, and I spent the night there and came home Friday morning. They said that there was nothing wrong with me there, so I'm going to the doctors either today or tomorrow to determine what happened. This meant that I was unable to perform much tasks in the hope of not getting my heart rate going up again, so I pretty much stayed in bed and rested up. I'm feeling fine, but don't know how this happened or what caused it, so I hope I'm ok. But that's why I've been gone for the past couple days.

Yeah, I have been feeling better. It still bothers me, but not like it was before.

Have they figured out what happened yet?

I had a similar health scare a couple of years ago, heart felt like it was racing. Spent the night in the E.R. for observation, took a stress test the next morning, and a couple of weeks later I underwent a procedure where it was determined that my arteries are smaller than what is considered normal, but other than that, everything looked good. Still not sure what caused the slight anxiety attack though. Feel fine now, passed my last physical completely, but it did scare the hell out of me and my wife. Hope everything turns out fine for you.

Zapp-I'm going in today to figure it out. Will let you know what happens.
Heinenken-That sounds like what I'm in for. Heart racing, night in the infirmary and follow-up tests, which I'm taking today, are being done soon.

Well, a little bit of good news about this.
Went to the doctor's yesterday for my follow-up, and everything is fine. Blood pressure is fine, no diabetes, no high cholesterol, and really seems to be just fine. However, had one of the weirdest prescriptions ever to help it: he told me to become a body-builder. Joining a gym and hit the weights was what he told me to do. Feels a little weird to have that said, but at least the good news is that I'm fine. And I still don't know what brought this one, as he never said what caused it.

That heart stuff is scary though, glad everything checked out. Hopefully you won't have any problems in the future and glad you're back.

Well, he told me that I should become like Arnold, you know, back in the 70s. He said I had the body type to do that and it would work. I can see what you mean though.
And thanks for the well-wishes.

Just noticed this thread now. Whoa, man - that must've been quite a scare there. If it happened while you were writing the short story for our contest then, well, it may be a sign that you've got yourself a winner...
Keeping the fingers crossed all is good from now on!

I feel better than I did exactly one week ago, that's for sure. Just trying to decide which gym I should join, since there's three or four within a 20-minute driving radius of where I live.
Thanks for the well-wishes. As for the longer story, I think I've got a winner, just have to put a few more touches to it.

Sorry again, but this week this issue picked back up again after relatively minor issues the previous week. It has not been anywhere near as serious as it was the first time, where I had to check into the hospital, but it's been a source of irritation ever since and has pretty much taken it's mark so far on me and my habits. So far, it's been an extreme stomach ache combined with rapid heart-beating and/or chest pains (sometimes it's the one, sometimes it's both) and at times has left me fearful to eat or perform mildly strenuous tasks. I have another doctor's appointment on Monday to see what the problem is, but hopefully it will be gone by then. It kinda hurts a little as I write this, so let's hope this works out like it did the first time.

Glad to hear you're okay Slayrrr. Yesterday, I was reaching up to shut off the air conditioner and I was stricken with terrible sharp pains all through the left side of my chest. Very odd. Deep breaths brought on more stinging pain but it passed in a couple minutes. It's happened a few times before. Very strange.

Sorry for the late reply, but that's kinda what's happened to me, only it doesn't go away after a few minutes. It stays and lingers.

Well, some good news came out yesterday, when it turns out that I don't have any stomach viruses at all. I tested negative, which is good news. Now all I have to do is wait until November for my complete physical to determine what caused everything to begin with. That should be my final episode until then, but if anything else comes up, will immediately let you all know.
