I thought it was pretty good, not great. Not too many surprises other than PAN'S LABYRINTH and Eddie Murphy not winning in their categories since they were both favored. Everybody knew Scorsese, Jennifer Hudson, Helen Mirren and Forrest Whittaker were going to win, so no surprises there.
I thought the shadow troupe and sound effects choir were both very neat additions to the show.
Ellen was an okay host. My favorite moments with her were when she was out in the audience and handed Scorsese a screenplay she'd written and also when she had Spielberg take a photo of her and Clint Eastwood so she could supposedly put it on her My Space page.
Seinfeld's appearance was a welcome and funny surprise. He should host! (I hear he was asked, but had to turn it down because he's too busy with the animated BEE MOVIE.)
Spielberg, Lucas and Coppola presenting their pal Scorsese the Oscar was awesome!
As usual most of the musical numbers bored me.
The whole show was pretty slow-paced though. Almost 4 hours? Yikes!! My rating: B-
