Serious?! Director of "Maniac", "Vigilante", Maniac Cop"... Worked for Anchor Bay and helped set up Blue Underground. Oh for Christ's sake, you guys act like the answer was Spielberg or something. MANIAC, MANIAC COP & VIGILANTE??? Never saw any of 'em and they're not exactly huge movies fellas, so I'm not sure why we were all expected to instantly know the name. Now, Anchor Bay Video I've heard of, but I don't usually delve into who started what video company. You hardly need to delve. Just read any horror message forum. AB and BU posts abound, as does Lustig's name. And he's also pretty unique in that he IS a film maker who went on to work for/set up DVD companies, as such he stands out. And no he's not Spielberg, but this is meant to be the OBSCURE movie trivia thread. If you wanted mainstream why assume it would be found here? But hell, for "Maniac" alone he's hardly that obscure to anyone who frequents any boards with a horror theme...Add the fact that the highly popular "Manaic Cop" starred Bruce Campbell also means he's hardly THAT obscure. Anyway...No need to bust a rib because you happened not to know something. Go rent a few less multi-plex themed movies or start a 'widely seen and known about movie trivia thread'

Anyway...No need to bust a rib because you happened not to know something. Go rent a few less multi-plex themed movies or start a 'widely seen and known about movie trivia thread' Hmm... where to begin? First of all, true, I don't have your knowledge of cult and fringe films, but really, there's no need to be so condescending about it either. The answer was easy to you because obviously cult & fringe flicks are your thing. I don't frequent horror message boards, which you mentioned twice in your post as being places that the name Lustig and his films are well known, because horror's not really my thing. I barely visit the horror section of this board. There are several people on this board who are apparently huge horror fans and none of them knew the answer either. Which is why I had to question your claim of the answer being "easy". It wasn't only because I didn't know the answer. And obviously, this is an "obscure movie trivia thread", not a "widely seen and known about movie trivia thread" (cute), so I don't think anybody expected the questions/answers to be simple. But that doesn't neccesarily mean, only ask questions about obscure movies or filmmakers either. There's plenty of obscure trivia connected to more mainstream films as well. MANIAC COP is only "highly popular" from the standpoint of "cult" film fans. Same with Bruce Campbell. Obviously, I've seen some of Bruce's work and I've heard of MANIAC COP without having yet seen it, but you'll never convince me that either is a household name. I have no problem with Frankenjohn's posting of the question. Kudos to him for asking one that obviously stumped everyone but you. But why you took so long to finally post the answer if you knew it all along, and after it sat there for over a month, is a bit strange. And yes, I'm known for only watching "multi-plexed themed movies". Again, not too condescending, not to mention incorrect.

Guys, guys - why bicker about Lustig when this is me who needs a sound kick in the very middle of the ass, 'cause I didn't know the answer and I call myself a Lustig FAN, ha, ha! Shame on me and, just right now, I'm going to go and rewrite my review of Maniac Cop a hundred times.
By the way - it's your turn to ask a trivia question now, 42nd!

I consider THIS...
...condescending and quite frankly too smart arse for it's own good! You want to act the hard man you'll have to learn to take some come back.
You mean keep it in an area YOU know about so you can swoop down and drop the answer in our laps. Or eles you feel left out and cry.
Well i guess that's peaches then pal, as the name in the thread is OBSCURE.
If you had paid any attention you would have noticed i've taken part in NONE of the questions. I've had no interest in this Thread before as I can't be bothered to think of questions. It just so happened that on the 'latest posts' search there were all kinds of 'We don't know, lets give it up' remarks so i thought I'd take a look at what the question was...and answered it then so as not to junk it. okay? Good.
Now I'll try to think of something, but not TOO obscure so as not to get any more...
...hissy hits.

He appeared early on in tiny support roles while still doing his (very important) day job.
He later gave up his day job to take up acting full time and his first role at this point (Directed by the same man he started his career with) was support in a movie that was an adaptation of a novel that would be adapated again years later, with a much more MAINSTREAM profile and an entirely different cast.
He's tough, no nonsense and his worked in TV as well as film, recently replacing a dead actor in a VERY successful TV cop show with numerous spin-offs.
Name him!!!

I consider THIS... ...condescending and quite frankly too smart arse for it's own good! You want to act the hard man you'll have to learn to take some come back. So, you're upset that I was condescending to your condescending remark? In your own words, "Learn to take some come back". You mean keep it in an area YOU know about so you can swoop down and drop the answer in our laps. Or eles you feel left out and cry. I've answered questions in all kinds of genres in this thread, so not sure what you're even talking about here. And not once did I condescend to everyone else when I did answer a question by commenting about how incredibly easy it was. And yes, I feel left out and cry everytime I don't guess one of these questions. If you had paid any attention you would have noticed i've taken part in NONE of the questions. I've had no interest in this Thread before as I can't be bothered to think of questions. Now I'll try to think of something, but not TOO obscure so as not to get any more.....hissy hits. I did notice you hadn't participated before. And if you had paid any attention you would have noticed that I never complained about the question itself. Never even posted a guess to it, as most of the names I would've guessed had already been mentioned. I only had a problem with the manner in which the answer was revealed. Okay? Good. Oh, and I knew Dennis Farina was the answer to your question, but I let someone else take a shot so as to not swoop in and drop the answer in everyone's laps.

And you felt the need to say this why? Was teacher not paying enough attention to you? "Please miss! I knew it too! I did! I did know it miss, honest"!
Well, I'm happy for you. Shame you were too late though. I guess Frankenjohn will have to give you another, hopefully more obscure, one so you can bitch and flame on the person (obviously other than you) who manages (DARES) to get it and worse... shows any kind of satisfaction at doing so.
Enjoy yourself.

Good job, frank - and let's move this thread in the right direction now.

Well, Sorry Bart. But the fact is he got pissed off because I dared to say that the answer was 'easy. Something he took offence too because HE didn't find it easy and so decided that it wasn't easy and how dare i say such a thing!
Well I for one can't name any other Director who works for a DVD company!! 2 famous DVD companies at that! So to me that made it easy. Very easy. And if Heiny dislikes someone finding an answer he could not get 'easy' (and showing pleasure at getting it right)...that's his hang-up. So let him keep it to himself and not spit and hiss all over people in public!
Now I'm out of here...keep it obscure (er...real).

And you felt the need to say this why? Well, I was being sarcastic on that last bit. Just using some of your own words to do it, but apparently you've already forgotten having said them. Once again you've not bothered to really read what I wrote, but you're awfully quick with the acid tongue. I asked who the guy was, and you couldn't believe that someone wouldn't know. Obviously, since no one was able to answer the question in over a month, I wasn't the only one. Then God forbid, I said that he and his films weren't exactly household names so I wasn't sure why it would be so shocking for someone to not have heard of him. Then you went into this tirade about me not knowing the answer cause I only watch mainstream movies and blah-blah-blah. Well I may watch more mainstream flicks than cult ones, but I'm not the one with the superiority complex around here. Okay, so you watch more cult and B-films than me, you win the No-Prize. Happy now? Anyway, when I posted, I never did it in anger and I certainly didn't hurl insults at you, so you might wanna rethink who's the one really being the crybaby and throwing the hissy fit around here. Sorry Bart, just callin' 'em like I see 'em.

NO you did not. Asking simply who he was would have been. "Who's that? Don't think I've heard of him". What you wrote was Which is EXACTLY what I said it was....You getting all hissy and whiny over the fact someone found it easy, and you didn't! Becaue if the great ego Heiny does not know something it obviously means it can't possibly be easy! Sorry Bart, just callin' 'em like I see 'em. Keep on. And I'll keep on.
