Yup. I can see them fine, now. Cute. We had to give away our three cats soon after the baby was born. They were little terrors before, but they started acting a bit weird after the baby came and we just didn't trust them. Bye bye kitties.

They were little terrors before, but they started acting a bit weird after the baby came and we just didn't trust them. Bye bye kitties. My families cats just avoided my boy when we first brought him home. My Mom's cat just avoids or put up with my kid when he's pestering her (we've spent a lot of time teaching him to pet them gently). Only one--Chancey, who is a terror anyway, has ever posed any threat to him. Once the stray cat "George W. Cat" started becoming a regular around there, he ended up almost being my kid's best friend. That cat has no spine at all and just let my boy carry him around and chase him. In reality, it's actually not a bad idea to have pets (like cats and dogs) around babies because they get used to the dander and are far less likely to develope allergies later on in life. Just be watchful is all. There have been stories of a dog killing a baby accidentially by trying to bring the crying child to the parents. I was raised around dogs and cats and pigs and cows and chickens--and I'm okay. I can see Phoenix's cats now.

You guys wanna see cute?? Check out the newest member of the family: Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww.... How could you say "eww" to poor, poor Bok?? We just picked up another littler one today so he has a friend to keep him company. He's not named yet. My suggestion was "Kubla Filthy Retched Khan."

Bok rocks! And thanks for making these pics visible for the rest of us, Term. Sorry about that - I was too lazy to transfer them to a host before I left for vacation this weekend (it was 'Labor Day' this weekend in the US) to West Palm Beach and wasn't online at all till tonight. Was soaking up the rays. Love the photos though. Hermit Crabs are great Quorth, but they die so damn fast! . Love the cats too! Love the close-up Bart. LDG: do you still have kittens or are they all grown-up?

I was raised around dogs and cats and pigs and cows and chickens--and I'm okay. . Me too. Allergy is the least of things. Much more essential is the fact that pets are natural counterparts of siblings. Very important if you have the only child. They enable children to behave more socially, pets teach them friendship, responsibility, spontaneity and couple of other things. Cats are no threat for little children, infants or newborns. It is always vice versa. A young kid pose a big threat for animals, especially smaller. Quorthon, I bet when you were a kid on your farm you must have killed some small animals not on purpose I mean. You stroke to death little chickens, strangled some ducks while hugging them? Make a full confession.

We only mistreated a few cats. Never hurt the chickens or other livestock. I once beat a mouse to death with a stick--but that's about it.
Unfortunately, dogs learn best sometimes from negative reinforcement. But the last dog, Zelda, (hald German Shepard/Norwegien Elkhound) considered being slapped or hit a form of playing. But that's how we eventually ended up playing with her.
We also picked up a little buddy for Bok--another smaller Hermit Crab on Sunday. Little bastard buries himself and tunnels around in the soil beneath the rocks so we almost never see him. He's gonna end up damaging the roots of the succulents! The instructions claim they like popcorn, so I gave them kernal of popped popcorn--and they had it buried and hidden the next day.

I doubt popcorn is a good meal for them. It will shorten their lifespan for sure. Give'm better food. They're not as durable as you. ;D

LDG: do you still have kittens or are they all grown-up? They're about half-grown now & spoiled rotten. I'll try to get some recent pics of them up. We have another litter on the way that should be here any day now.

The instructions that came with them stated that they like popcorn and other organic, leafy things. Fruit, Lettuce, that sort of stuff. They must like it, one of them buried the damn thing.

I meant junk food is not good for animals. That they like it does not mean it is healthy for them.
