Thanks, slayrrr - I watched it when you first posted it, and soon afterwards the music mag I work for offered me an interview with the band's guitarist, and sent me the promo version of the new album. It's good stuff, obviously, but for me it isn't their BEST album ever (and Tobias seems to be claiming that), so I argued a bit about that in the interview.
I'm interested in your opinion on this CD... When is it out in the US?

Been awhile for news (mostly just confirmations about who's playing what festivals next year or year-end best-of lists) but this should be somewhat good news: German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR entered the studio on November 28 to begin recording their new album, "16.6", due in early 2009 via Frontiers Records.
The group has issued the following update:
"Another week, another very intensive work in the recording studio — all instruments are recorded, percussion and orchestra parts are recorded. We changed some lyrics and some song titles, as always, last minute.
"Magnus [Karlsson, guitar] is just on his way back home to Sweden and still left some open mouths in the House Of Music [studio]! Not only regarding his phenomenal guitar playing, he added some more stange string instruments and a lot of good vibes to the production!
"Ralf [Scheepers, vocals], Mat [Sinner, bass] and Dennis [Ward, producer] are working on the vocal and choir parts."www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=111146

Looking forward to this - last Sinner album was blast, so I hope Mat has equally good ideas for his other band's album, too.

I have to admit to not being completely familiar with Sinner. I've heard of them, and they are on a couple tribute albums I own (covering Metallica's Wherever I May Roam and Thin Lizzy's The Sun Goes Down) but I don't have any proper albums or songs from them. Can't seem to find them easily over here, I guess, due to the US not being very big on Power Metal or their members' side projects.

Sorry, Bart, there's been nothing for me to post in this (usually at this time of the year, all we usually get is either interviews about just released albums that you know all about or festival confirmations for the summer) so after skipping through all that stuff, here's a little something I think works nicely for this: According to a posting on EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet's MySpace page, Sammet will release a new album from his AVANTASIA project before the end of the year. More details will be made available soon.
In a recent interview, Sammet stated about his plans for the forthcoming AVANTASIA CD, "I will do everything to have the biggest production I've ever had. I am negotiating with an orchestra right at the moment and I just wanna have a bombastic, monumental movie for the ears. And for such an undertaking there is no one who is better than Sascha [Paeth; producer, engineer and guitarist of AVANTASIA project]; he is like a brother to me."www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=114427

Well, I don't know what to say to this other than simply this: Nuclear Blast has set a May 2 release date for "Fucking With F*** - Live", the new DVD and separate 2-CD package from German melodic metallers EDGUY. The footage for the DVD was shot on November 3, 2006 at the Credicard Hall in São Paulo, Brazil and "presents a mind-blowing performance of Tobias Sammet [vocals] and his team," according to a press release. "More than 100 minutes including all hymns, as well as lots of bonus material featuring all video clips, road movies and interviews. Besides the DVD, there will be also a double live CD, separate, as well as part of a noble package along with the DVD."
"Fucking With F*** - Live" track listing:
01. Catch Of The Century 02. Sacrifice 03. Babylon 04. Lavatory Love Machine 05. Land Of the Miracle 06. Tears Of A Mandrake 07. Vain Glory Opera 08. Drum Solo 09. Superheroes 10. Fucking With Fire 11. Save Me 12. Mysteria 13. Out Of Control 14. Avantasia 15. King Of FoolsCover artwork: www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=116055

Great to hear about the new Avantasia album - I just hope it will be more surprising than the last one.
As for the Edguy DVD - I've been waiting for this shit for, like, several years and to be quite honest with you, I'm not quite as crazy about it now as I used to be in 2006 when I saw their Rocket Ride show. Especially since Edguy's final album isn't as great as Tobias claims it is.

It looks to me like the DVD covers that area more than the admittedly-disappointing new album, and since Rocket Ride is heavily growing on me with more listens, I just may pick it up. I missed out on the Rocket Ride tour when it came by, so that could be enough for me.

Oh, don't get me wrong: I think this is going to be a great DVD, Edguy is brilliant live, after all. It's just that I wanted to buy it in 2006 - now there are hotter DVDs to pursue...

Some good news for you here: EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet is currently working on material for the next album from his AVANTASIA project. He writes on his official web site, "This is not a rock and roll, home-studio project; we'll work with a choir, with a symphony orchestra and — no matter if the music industry goes down the toilet — I'll spend a fortune on creating the whole thing. So I'll take all the time I need, and it won't see the light of day until I am completely satisfied. Some who know my plans said that it's unreasonable to spend one's savings on creating a piece of music these days as the music industry is going through hard times. Absolutely right! But do you consider it extremely reasonable to shoot a man into space? It's unreasonable to spend money for whatever; life itself is unreasonable, because — believe it or not — in the end it's quite often pretty lethal. I am rather unreasonable and therefore unsad."
In a recent interview, Sammet stated about his plans for the forthcoming AVANTASIA CD, "I will do everything to have the biggest production I've ever had. I am negotiating with an orchestra right at the moment and I just wanna have a bombastic, monumental movie for the ears. And for such an undertaking there is no one who is better than Sascha [Paeth; producer, engineer and guitarist of AVANTASIA project]; he is like a brother to me."www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=119820
