I finally caught an ad on TV for Walk the Line--the movie about Johnny Cash and by god I can't wait to see it. Juaquin Phoenix looks like he's doing the part perfectly. Hell, I may very well walk through a ring of fire to see it!!

I'm with ya on this one. Always been a huge Cash fan & a Joaquin Phoenix fan, so I can't wait to see it. When I first heard that Joaquin was gonna play him I was like ummmmmmm..wtf? But after seeing the trailer for it I think he can pull it off. And I've always thought that Reese Witherspoon was a good actress so I'm sure she'll do a good job as June. From what I've read it's not just gonna show all the "good" stuff about his life & career. It will delve more into the drug addiction & the fact that he left his wife & kids to marry June, so that should be an interesting side of his life that hasn't been talked about much.

People always want to see their heroes at their lowest--it's when the character is weakened that they become the most appealing. One of the many things we were taught in my Animation courses--uses a lot of the same rules as regular filmmaking.

Yeah, it just goes to show that just b/c our "idols" are famous doesn't mean that they're perfect. Kinda like when I watched "Ray" & it really opened my eyes to Ray Charles....I never knew about most of the stuff revealed in that movie.

I'll probably catch this one on matinee - I do like johnny cash (although I associate him w/my grandfather since he listened to him all the time) and I'm interested enough. I do prefer a 'darker' more accurate film as well.

I watched a Behind The Scenes on it this weekend & it makes me wanna see it even more. There was also an article in our local newspaper last week, an interview with the guy who wrote the screenplay. And he said that when he was interviewing Johnny & June when he was researching, that they weren't exactly forthcoming with information about their personal lives until they admitted that they slept together before they were married (they always maintained that they didn't) and then that opened the floodgates for all the stuff in the movie.

Saw it today and thought it was pretty good, but not nearly as powerful as RAY. Pheonix turns in a great performace and is a shoe-in for an Oscar nomination, but the movie itself isn't as good as he is, unlike RAY, which I thought was a great performance in a great film. The story just had a kind of "been there done that" feel to it. All imho, of course. 7.5/10
