Let the fun of choosing favourite albums of our favourite bands begin! Metallica goes first as probably everyone here likes at least some of their albums.
My favourite is still Ride The Lightning: this is the closest they ever got to the music I love (i.e. heavy metal nicely mixed with thrash); Master Of Puppets would come second.
You?

I don't like Metallica anymore--their attitudes and complete selling out have turned me against them. But back in the day when I was uber-big Metallica fan, Justice was my favorite. It's also their heaviest, angriest album and the last one where there were writing songs 6,7,8 minutes long. Until that piece of shit St. Anger where they wrote really long ultra-crappy songs.
Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets still hold a special place in my heart--they were some of my first Metal albums--and some great classic Thrash.

I say Master of Puppets, only because my favorite song, Disposable Heroes, came from that song. But I own no albums from them after that time and are dead to me. They have made only three fucking specatacular albums and have then disappeared off the face of the earth for me. Justice, tho, did have a few good songs, but not enough for me to warrant keeping the album.

I have Metallica's KeA, RtL, MoP, ...aJfA, and Re-Load on Vinyl. I've never opened ReLoad--still perfectly sealed. I also have the Sad But True single on vinyl.
I was such a big Metallica fan that I bought all that shit.
None of which I listen to...

Yeah, I used to listen to Metallica. I've since outgrown them and putting their CDs on the stereo every once in a while gives me a headache.
But Master of Puppets had always been my favorite. I like the instrumental song, Orion (isn't it?) and I think that's one of the few songs of theirs that I actually remember how to play.

...And Justice For All
In my opinion, this was the album that showed just how talented these 4 guys were. The Riffs, The Solos, The Lyrics, The Drums were above & beyond anything they had previously released & future released. They were an instrumental band & although Orion was very good, To Live is to Die was a stronger & more agressive piece. This album was the peak of Metallica, after that album they began to slowly crumble unfortunately. I remember trying to play the opening guitar piece of Blackened for quite some time until I found out it was played & than recorded backwards which is why they obviously never played it live & why I got no where trying to play it on my Gibson, ah well. I like all their albums except Reload. That was just a bunch of leftovers of music pieces they had written & never finished. I recently uploaded all their albums on the computer except Reload & added the 2 new songs from S&M as well as Garage Days Re-visited + I Disappear & put them on a single cd for listening in my car. To say you cannot put one of their cds in your stereo or car & not enjoy anything from them is pure rubbish.
