Since recently I'm listening to one bootleg on loop - Dream Theatre's The Number Of The Beast - I decided to ask you all a question: how do you like'em bootlegs? How many do you have? Which one's your favourite?
My love for bootlegs has just started now: after several bad-bad-quality ones, I really didn't expect to get anything as good as The Number Of The Beast! Not only is it amazing to hear a band like Dream Theater play the whole Iron Maiden album note-perfect, but you also get Number's weakest song (come on: even Steve Harris hates it!) re-imagined in a truly gorgeous way - yes, it's Gangland I'm talking about here, and on this album it sounds like it was a Dream Theater song from the very beginning; and one of their very best, too! The rest of the album is left mostly unchanged, except you get each song with LaBrie's great vocals and Petrucci's finger-breaking solos. Brilliant!
Also great is Dream Theater's Master Of Puppets, but since I love Iron Maiden so much more than Metallica, The Number Of The Beast sits in my CD player all the time now!

The only bootlegs I have are demos & never released songs by KISS. I even have the demo of Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley's Pre-KISS band, Wicked Lester. Which includes early versions of one or two songs that would later appear on future KISS records. The Dream Theater plays Maiden & Metallica stuff sounds pretty awesome.

I have a few bootleg shows from the 80's...cant' remember exactly what I have right now. And I have a dvd boot of Pearl Jam's second night at MSG. That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure I have some more stashed around here somewhere.

I have Megadeth playing Woodstock... um, 99 I think, bootleg live video. Which includes "Dave Vs. The Laser." Some moron in the audience buzzes one of those spot-lasers on Dave Mustaine and Dave makes fun of the loser.
I have several Metallica bootlegs:
My Garage Days Re-Revisited is a bootleg Garage Days 2 Garage Days 3 Metallica Jump in the Fire/Creeping Death bootleg
Megadeth Live in Buenos Aires Acoustic show (Dave forgets the lyrics to "Foreclosure of a Dream" and mumbles "fuck" then remembers when they get to the chorus. Opens the next song with: "Let's see if I remember the words to this one."
I once had a whole Metallica bootleg box set which was called The Metallica Apocalypse Box--it included 3 disks of demos and rare recordings and included Jason Newsted's Death Metal side project IR8 (only 3 tracks ever recorded). I sold that to a friend of mine who was a huge Metallica fan when I was growing disenchanted with them.

I voted between 10-19 as I dont know exactly how many I have. But I have a few Maiden ones like a concert from '84 in Hammersmith Odeon during the world slavery tour. Also the first ever concert Bruce did with them when he re-joined them it is titled as "Reunion". I have a few more covering Maiden, and Guns N Roses, Testament, and some more I forget at the moment.
