So I went to see the bands, after all!
The sad thing is I missed Primal Fear - this is because I would never suspect they may start playing as soon as at 3pm! I came to the stadium at about 4pm and only caught their last two songs. Still, I can honestly say that the band is in great form - can't wait to see their full show sometime soon!
Then there was Polish Behemoth (don't like) and after a long wait - Kreator. And Kreator I liked, even though I'm not really a fan. The performance was damn powerful, with some tunes that stayed in my mind even though I heard them for the first time there (Violent Revolution, for example). What felt strange, though, were some of Petrozza's talks with the audience: "Are you ready to KILL EACH OTHER?!!" before Pleasure To Kill and the like. Overall, however - a pretty show.
Unlike Nightwish, which disappointed me big time: the vocals were simply painful and the cover of Pink Floyd's High Hopes was one of the worst covers I've ever heard. I would lie if I said that the audience hated them, though - the fans were delighted anyway.
Iron Maiden came on stage at 9:30 pm - we had an hour of waiting after Nightwish. Their show started with Murders In The Rue Morgue and went on through the tracks from Iron Maiden, Killers, The Number Of The Beast and Piece Of Mind (though Bruce actually forgot what were his band's first four albums and mentioned Powerslave in the place of Killers!); on one hand, it was cool to hear so many songs from the classic albums (even Charlotte The Harlot and Phantom Of The Opera), but on the other, I'd love to listen to some newer stuff, too. The highlights, apart from the two above, were: Remember Tomorrow, The Trooper, Where Eagles Dare and Revelations; ahh, what a great album Piece Of Mind is!
Bruce was craziest I ever saw him, and the band, you can feel, is in fine form. Not their best show ever - but a high quality one, still.
