My remaining "to watch DVD's" (from Christmas):
-Omen IV -Robocop 3 (I just can't bring myself to watch it--I only wanted the first two movies in the box set--unrated Robo 1) -Nine and a Half Weeks (actually the wife's) -European cut of Dawn of the Dead (1978) from the box set -Friday the 13th Part V -Friday the 13th Part VII -Special features and discs in the Seinfeld box
And Chinatown that I borrowed from a friend 3 months ago.

TORTURE!!!!Ahh, wasn't so bad. Season 3 & 5 were my favorites of the series. I thought Season 7 could have ended better or maybe I was hoping for a bigger showdown.

Sense and Sensibility Love Actually Annie Hall Bananas (Woody Allen) Breakfast at Tiffany's Judgment at Nuremberg Road House (Patrick Swayze) The General (Buster Keaton) King Lear (Ian Holm)
There are more, but I can't remember them.
Any comments on what it means when someone feels that buying DVDs is more important than viewing them? Is there some kind of innate human need to possess something entirely, eternally without really interacting with it or is this a pathology?

Any comments on what it means when someone feels that buying DVDs is more important than viewing them? Is there some kind of innate human need to possess something entirely, eternally without really interacting with it or is this a pathology? I've encountered this on a few message boards. People who keep buying dvds to the point where they have shelves full of unwatched ones. If I get to the point where I feel I have too many unwatched DVDs, usually more than ten, I'll stop purchasing for a while to give myself time to catch up. But yeah, if you buy a DVD more because it looks good on the shelf than you really being interested in viewing it, there's definitely a problem.

I seldom buy DVDs whose movie I haven't already seen and liked. I've been burned by this a few times - getting stuck with a bad movie. My problem seems to be never having the time to view my unopened DVDs but still buying more. I think I need help. BTW, here are some more I haven't watched yet:
Mars Attacks A Star Is Born (the original) A Christmas Story The Simpsons Complete 5th Season Tillie's Punctured Romance (haven't seen but I wanted a Mack Sennett movie and this had Charlie Chaplin) Breaker Morant Deep Impact First Blood Cinderfella City Slickers II Collateral Angel And The Badman
Do you think there's a twelve-step program for this? It would go
"Hi, my name is Steve. I haven't bought a DVD without watching it for over 5 months".

A 12 step program.. yeah that would be, being broke. My last dvd purchase was The Forgotten on February 2nd & I'm starting to feel withdrawals, hasn't even been a full month. On the + side, I still have 60 dvds left to watch while I scrounge up enough change to buy that 1 more dvd that will make my already collection feel complete. I turned to Columbia House for my addiction & now they want nothing to do with me. I'll still keep bugging them to open up another account. 3 letters of rejection, you'd think I'd get the message, nope! ;D

Haven't seen that in years! Another excellent turn by Woodward, but it's a film that gets the blood up!!!

Breaker Morant and Paths Of Glory (Kirk Douglas, dir. Stanley Kubrick) are two of the best war movies dealing with war's insanity.
The Forgotten: I kind of ignored this film because the reviews were, well, mostly negative. Maybe it deserves a watch.
I just thought of some more I haven't opened yet:
The Family Jewels (Jerry Lewis) Cinderfella (ibid) The Disorderly Orderly (ibid) W.C. Fields (collection)
As you can see, I'm a big Jerry Lewis fan along with the French, who also love J.L., but my wife hates him. What's up with that?
