First, allow me to introduce myself: My name is Mike and I'm new to this board. I look forward to chatting with everyone Now, on to some insights, or rather more like observations, I had about Saw II, which I saw a couple weeks ago. Quick note: If you have not seen Saw II yet, STOP RIGHT HERE! Otherwise, it may ruin some of the fun for you!
Now, onto my "insights":
The first one is this: Who was Jigsaw's very first victim of his "survival games?" If you've seen Saw II, you'll know that it was none of the victims in the first movie. Think about it: the very first survivor of his "games" was...himself. I say this because after he tried crashing his car and killing himself (and failed), he didn't simply lie there waiting to bleed to death. Instead, he forced himself to crawl out of a wrecked car, through broken glass and gravel, and he did this with a pipe impaling his side, which he subsequently pulled out himself. This is, as far as I know, the first time that a homicidal maniac who likes to play twisted games with peple has, in effect, been the first participant. It's as if he unintentionally put himself through a survival test before using it on his victims.
Okay, second "Insight"...if you've seen Saw II, then you know that the good Dr. and that kid both wind up dead by the second movie. Here's my question of curiosity: After the doctor cut his own foot off to escape, did he bleed to death and then Jigsaw put him back in the room...or did Jigsaw catch up with him and bring him back to that dreaded room (still alive) to die? Also, at the end of the first SAW, why didn't the kid use Zep's gun to blast away the chain keeping him prisoner and free himself? Even after Jigsaw jolted him before leaving, I don't think the gun flew that far that the kid couldn't have reached it. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Happy posting!
