Yeah, I'd heard that rumor too, then it kind of disappeared.

I saw on tv the other day that Schrader's version of this is finally gonna be released in theater's...didn't catch the release date though. I'm def. interested in seeing this one. From the clips they showed it has a distinctly different atmosphere than the Harlin version. I guess it's gonna focus more on the psychological element than the gore & cgi of the other one.

Thought I'd vote now, when was this thread created? ;D
Anyway, I really enjoyed Exorcist: The Beginning. Its the type of sequel/prequel that doesn't reqire you to sit through any other of the Exorcist films. *** Above average.

It doesn't require seeing any of the others, but it did at least still tie in with the original Exorcist. And I can't really wait to see the other version of that movie.

In terms of technical value, I find this one on the low end of the series. It only ranks above Part 2 in that area, but as for entertainment value, it's only behind Part 3 as the best of the series. Creepy, atmospheric and quite engaging, plus there's the finale as well, which I quite enjoyed, so this one proved very well-done.
