Added uncut copies of The Curse of the Living Corpse and Dementia 13 to the collection.
The Horror of Party Beach-After a series of strange disappearances involving the locals in a small seaside town, the locals find the area to be infested with sea-born monsters revived by radioactivity and track them down before they kill the entire population. A deliciously cheesy and enjoyable monster effort that really has no other function than being exactly that. From the ludicrously and grossly over-featured teen-dance-party on the beach, with all the unnecessary drama associated with such fare especially back in the 50s and 60s, including the extended focus on lame music and rituals that are just unbelievably bad and cheesy. Then we get to the monsters which is one of the goofiest looking creations ever which just adds to the cheesy atmosphere even more, and is a ton of fun for the film whenever they're on-screen. Even better though is the fact that, despite being so cheesy it has an air of suspense and action throughout, with a lot of attacks and the creatures being the focal point have a lot of time on-screen which makes them look all the better. Far better than expected and immensely enjoyable.

Scream 4-After returning to her hometown to continue her book tour, the survivor of several serial killer attacks finds her and her friends under attack by another killer looking to finish what the others started, putting them in the path of the madman. This was easily the weakest of the series and didn't have a lot going for it. The biggest problem with this was the fact that there's just so much talk about the rules and regulations of horror versus real-life and it just got old after a while. It wasn't all that interesting to constantly hear from these supposed experts on the genres to blurt out something that can save their lives, then do the same thing to get them into trouble with the killer, exactly like what happened with the original which really turned me off the first time I saw it. As well, the finale was an unmitigated disaster, with no surprise from the killer's revelation, a motive which was just plain embarrassing to see used in a major film that also made no sense on top of that, and the ending in the hospital tends to go on for far too long, almost seemingly to bump it's running time up for no real reason just to make it a similar length to the others. A little more variety in the kills would've been nice though they were gory enough, and a few stalking scenes were good, but overall this one wasn't all that great.

Added uncut copies of Slaughter, Dark Floors and The Thaw to the collection.
Invasion of the Neptune Men-After a series of small magnetic incidents reveal the cause to be from outer space, a group of schoolchildren help the authorities battle the extraterrestrials from completing their invasion of Earth. Extraordinarily cheesy and extremely fun Japanese sci-fi epic that shows a ton of influence from their giant monster movies of the same time, especially in the film's jaw-dropping highlight where the space-ships fly en-masse through the city and begin blasting it to pieces, raining destruction and high-intensity explosions that look amazing and generate a ton of interesting visuals and excitement. As the extremely cheesy nature of the film pretty much dictates that this looks cheap and pretty much like a low-budget effort which isn't something that most can deal with, especially when put against the dub-job and totally annoying kids running everything, but it's still an immensely entertaining effort.

Brian Keene's Ghoul-After finding a series of strange incidents in a local cemetery to be the cause of a vicious creature from local myth, a group of friends put their troubled lives aside to deal with the deadly menace. This here was one of the worst, most uneventful horror films ever and really had almost nothing of value. When it's about a creature on the loose that's ripping people apart, focus on that rather than a series of extraordinarily boring and completely useless subplots about the children being abused at home. Tragic, yes, but completely unnecessary in a film of this type since you don't want to watch that kind of material when you've got a creature feature to watch, and the extreme amount of time spent dealing with those issues means that there's no time for the other factors to come into play, since there's no suspense, no shocks and very little about this to make it seem like a horror film at all, as instead it's something altogether worse and boring.

Roman Polanski's Carnage - a beautiful and very funny movie! All four actors are simply genius here and I'm very glad that somebody finally offered Waltz a role that truly shows his talent again! Just seen this delightfully acid comedy. Loved it, very good acting from all leads, a smart adaptation of a stage-play to movie and lots of funny moments that hint of very disturbing realities when you think about them.

Dark Fields-After the unearthing of a long-held family secret, a woman finds herself fleeing from the aftereffects of a strange curse that has plagued the family for years as she tries to find a way to end the cycle of violence before she becomes a part of it. An incredibly difficult one to get a handle on, since this one has the frustrating and aggravating ability to constantly skip around in different times to three different periods, oftentimes right in the middle of the action which makes the film so hard to get into when it's constantly going all over the place. On top of that, it's a little too long for it's own good, spending way too much time trying to set up a creepy atmosphere with it's curse and their affliction but falls prey to the common conviction of keeping the crucial information a secret the entire time that explains what's going on, keeping this one from really getting into any kind of groove. Once it finally gets going in the last half, it's pretty fun and enjoyable with enough to give it some punch at times, but this really had a few problems with it.

Dark Wolf-After a series of strange attacks concerning those around her, a young woman finds herself the target of a vicious werewolf looking to fulfill an ancient prophecy using her and must rely on an expert hunter to protect her and her friends from the beast. While this one was an immensely enjoyable effort, there was a couple issues to be had with it. The main one is the fact that there's almost no getting around how lousy the CGI is used for the transformation scenes. They're obvious, extremely lame and have very little effect because they look so cheap, and since it's used only for the transformation scenes they're quite distracting. There's also a few problems with the main storyline since it's so haphazardly explained and mentioned that it feels like an afterthought, offers no real information or insight into the situation which is all the more damaging when more is given later in a far more useful light. That aside, there's a lot to like with some vicious, bloodsplattering attacks, a great looking monster costume, a rousing finale and plenty of nudity. Just a few minor issues hold this one down.

Bad Girls from Valley High-After a foreign exchange student arrives, a clique of girls find themselves aging rapidly and hindering their social lives, forcing them to find the connection between the new student and their involvement in an accident from the past. Supposedly a horror/comedy, this one turned out to be neither as this wastes far too much time trying to be a dark comedy but failing miserably due to an overabundance of gags of them suffering the consequences of being old that are supposed to be funny because of them being young girls. It doesn't work, and it just seems to be the same old tired cliches after another which makes for an agonizing time as this isn't all to interesting. The final revelation makes no sense either since it backtracks on what was previously established several times over and really wasn't too challenging to guess right off the bat, so it's also not a total surprise either. All around just a disappointment.

Stag Night-After getting stranded in a subway tunnel late one night, a group of friends find themselves in the clutches of a cannibalistic group of dwellers living in the area and must find a way to get out of the situation before they become food for the beings. A total disappointment here, which is a shame since it has a lot going for it. With a creepy location, a realistic scenario, some good gore gags and a lot of action, this one really should've been a lot of fun but instead is really damaged by the film's incessant and unyielding love affair with a shacking camera that goes on during each of the big action sequences, rendering them to a mostly incomprehensible blur and making it impossible to tell what's going on. Since it's so dark in the area to begin with, this makes its biggest scenes a rather indistinguishable mess and really hurting this one overall. Combined with it's rather offbeat pace where it tends to drag when it's dealing with a totally uninteresting cast yet race by when dealing with the confrontations as well as far too much fake sentiment that doesn't do anything and this one is a huge missed opportunity.

Medium Raw: Hour of the Wolf-A detective and the workers at a psychiatric facility try to deal with the murderous inmates housed there when a power outage frees the criminals held inside and begin threatening the group inside. I won't say much for this one, it sucked royally and didn't have anything worthwhile. Lame story, lame premise, lame killers and a boring, drawn-out pace make this a chore to sit through. Tons of potential, no execution.

Screaming in High Heels: The Rise and Fall of the Scream Queen-Pretty enjoyable and entertaining documentary on the three 80s Scream Queens (Quigley, Stevens and Bauer) and the roles they played together and in other films, the reaction they got from fans and the media, and how they've still survived and endured through time. A lot of good stuff here, as it does go into the process of how you can make a film in five days and still churn out exciting products like they did back then, how the evolution of horror films made it possible for such a market to be created and goes into their backstories enough for a few interesting nuggets to be spilled for each of them. That said, barely given these girls an hour of time doesn't seem that long and the whole thing is over quite quickly, leaving this as a worthwhile effort overall with a minor problem to be overcome.

The Woman-After finding a barbaric woman living in the woods near his home, a man takes her home to try to civilize her, rendering the treatment more barbaric and brutal than her normal actions until she becomes incensed and breaks free. An exceptionally lame and barely worthwhile effort that tends to act more as a drama than an out-and-out horror film since she's strapped-up for the majority of the film and doesn't get a chance to get loose until the final act. With all that time in between the events to take up, focusing on the family and their problems, as each one does have a problem that's supposed to make the family dysfunctional but all it does is drag out the film by exploring their issues, not that interesting and some of which make it hard to really care about them to begin with. What little gore is there is mostly undone by the incredibly lagging pace that makes for a really exasperated watch as it plods along not focusing anything of value. In the end, a monumental disappointment and barely worth mentioning.
