I am going with Halloween, if you watch that movie in the dark, it scares the crap out of you.

Oh, I dunno... all of the movies in the poll are the ones you see in every other "100 scariest films" list. It's not that any of them are particularly bad, but frankly I'm tired of always seeing them.
Whatever happened to other, equally scary but apparently forgotten movies like "The Birds", "The innocents", "Night of the hunter", "Candyman" and so on?
Oh, and for the record: I think "Ringu" is much scarier than "The ring" --it's just that the special effects are much less flashy.

Yeah, most people seem to forget about 'Candyman' which is one of my favorites, and one of the creepier ones.

I voted for THE EXORCIST. My favorite horror movie. Though I liked pretty much everything on the list. Why are these choices almost always the movies that are listed as the best for the horror genre? Probably because these are the ones that set the bar. They tend to have better acting, effects and stories than your typical horror movie. Most horror movies tend to fall into the B-Movie category, so when one comes along that is exceptional, or a cut above, it definitely stands out. That's just my take on it.

I agree, I really can't think of a horror movie that's come out lately that was anything but a B-movie. I have nothing against B's of course but I like a really good serious scare every once in awhile. BTW Heineken, good to see you back!

Are we going to have to send you away like we did Bart w/ the whole Terminator fiasco? You just got back, we don't want you to have to leave again.

No, no, I promise I'll be good and rent PB soon. But seriously, PB isn't even the same league as far as popularity or history or even how long it's been around. It's a small cult film from a couple of years ago that gained most of it's popularity on home video, where T2 was a huge box office hit that almost everybody saw when it was in theaters. If someone tells me they haven't seen PB, I don't even blink. But if they like Sci-Fi and say they've never seen T2, I just have to give a double take.

Yes, I can see your point & you're right (although given the choice I would watch PB over Terminator, but that's just me) so we'll cut you some slack.

No, no, I promise I'll be good and rent PB soon. Good. Sure T2 is way more popular than Pitch Black but we're not talking popularity here, are we? I think you guys wanted me to see T2 not only because you think it's popular but also because you think it's good, right? So, now your board friends are recommending to you, dear Heineken, a flick that's maybe not as famous as any of the Terminator movies but that's definitely VERY good in their opinion. You may not like it after you finally watch it but isn't it good to know what these board guys are so crazy about?

"Sure T2 is way more popular than Pitch Black but we're not talking popularity here, are we? I think you guys wanted me to see T2 not only because you think it's popular but also because you think it's good, right?"
Oh, absolutely. Those of us who recommended T2 to you thought it was a great movie, that also happened to be really popular. 2 reasons why we were surprised you hadn't seen it yet. It's almost like someone saying they haven't seen STAR WARS yet. But not quite. ;D There are plenty of movies that were popular that I wouldn't recommend to anybody. I promise I will watch PITCH BLACK soon folks.
