Actually, Metroid Prime is where the resemblence to the Alien series ceases. The previous four games for the NES, Game Boy, SNES, and Game Boy Advance (respectively) are the ones which relate to the series.
I love Metroid Prime and was hard-pressed to find a game I liked better. Although, Super Metroid (despite its age) is still a strong favorite--a perfect 10 in every department. Metroid Prime 2 wasn't quite as good--and I only just recently (last week) beat that final boss--only to have my ass handed to me by the final ultra-psychotic incarnation of that "evil" Samus. God, what the fuck was that all about? I barely touched the bitch!
