Even without comparing it to the book, this is one dreadful movie. Even the monster looked shitty! This came out half a decade after Creepshow, and the monster in "The Crate" still looks a million times more realistic!

I love the look of the creature. It was only seen rarely, barely given even a glimpse when it did come out, and there's no evidence or wires or seems or zippers along it. I thought it looked great.

It's head was gigantic. I wanted to look away when I saw it.
...yet I couldn't.
Because the creature wasn't shown enough, so I had to make sure I was paying attention so I could see it!

I like the disproportionalism. I think it's more intimidating, as there's a really unfamiliar appearance to it, something new. That's a lot better than seeing something you're used to and trying to pass it off as a threatening creature.
